Fiscal Responsibility: Bill’s financial expertise and dedication to the community is desperately needed.  In the last 4 years, Summit County's current council members have engaged in $30 million in deficit spending completely eliminating the budget surplus.  Deficits have continued without proactive action.  Bill will work diligently to control spending, increase revenue through economic development and serve the citizens of Summit County on a full time basis.  With 3 children and an elderly mother, he is vitally aware of the issues facing families with children and the elderly.

Effective Government:  Summit County government continues to spend excessively.  The County received a $2.3 million grant to hire disadvantaged teens for Summer employment.  Incredibly, the County executive approved $931,000 to administer this program, 41% of the total.  Bill will pledge to examine every bill to insure that Summit County tax dollars are spent effectively.

Ethics:  Summit Conty Council members need to conform to the highest ethical standards.  In 2006 Summit County voters passed a strong anti nepotism law but Summit County Council found a way to circumvent the will of the voters and hire the relative of a director.  Bill will pledge to maintain the highest ethical standards if elected.

Senior Citizens: Retired Americans have a wide range of skills and knowledge to contribute to local and national public service efforts. Bill frequently helps his 88 year old mother with medical and tax issues. Bill will engage more interested seniors into public service opportunities by supporting programs like Senior Corps to connect seniors with quality volunteer opportunities.

Support Job Creation: Bill Roemer believes we need to agressively pursue federal funding for basic research to help create high-paying, secure jobs. Bill will encourage long-term investments in education, training, and workforce development so that Summit County can leverage our strengths - our ingenuity and entrepreneurialism - to create new high-wage jobs and prosper in a world economy.

Environmental Issues: Since the beginning, our environment has been a source of our strength. Access to natural resources, clean water and land spurred the growth of our nation. As stewards of the land it is our duty to insure that we keep our environment as clean as possible, for our posterity and ourselves. Bill firmly believe that every individual should do his or her part to reduce consumption of energy and raw materials. His family has owned a farm in Summit County for over 75 years. They have never developed this but instead maintained it to benefit the environment and preserve it for future generations.
